Safety

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Optiq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Optiq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Optiq and VF 8 have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Optiq has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Optiq and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Optiq’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

There are almost 142 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Optiq’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Optiq can travel longer on a full charge than the VF 8 on a full charge:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Optiq has larger standard tires than the VF 8 (245/50R20 vs. 225/55R19). The Optiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the VF 8 (275/40R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The Optiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 8 Eco’s standard 55 series tires. The Optiq’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the VF 8 Plus’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Optiq has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the VF 8 Eco. The Optiq’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the VF 8 Plus.

The Cadillac Optiq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The VinFast VF 8 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Optiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The VF 8 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the Cadillac Optiq has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The VinFast VF 8 has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

For better maneuverability, the Optiq’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the VF 8’s (39.8 feet vs. 40.6 feet).

Chassis

The Cadillac Optiq may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 350 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Optiq has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The front grille of the Optiq uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Cargo Capacity

The Optiq has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the VF 8 with its rear seat up (26 vs. 13.2 cubic feet). The Optiq has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the VF 8 with its rear seat folded (57 vs. 48.4 cubic feet).

Towing

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Optiq uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 8 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the VF 8 Plus, the Optiq offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Optiq’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Passive Entry standard on the VF 8 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Optiq’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Optiq has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the VF 8.

The Optiq has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Optiq’s Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Enhanced Automatic Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
