With its standard Automatic Emergency Braking/Front Pedestrian Braking, the Cadillac Lyriq is better at preventing collisions with pedestrians than the Lincoln Aviator, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Cadillac Lyriq achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Lincoln Aviator has not been tested.

The Cadillac Lyriq comes with a standard HD Surround Vision and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Lincoln Aviator doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Lyriq and the Aviator have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Lyriq weighs 744 to 1093 pounds more than the Lincoln Aviator. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Lyriq’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Aviator’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are over 18 percent more Cadillac dealers than there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Lyriq’s warranty.

The Lyriq’s optional electric motors produces 115 more horsepower (515 vs. 400) and 35 lbs.-ft. more torque (450 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The Lyriq can travel with zero emissions for 303 to 326 miles (dependent on model). The Aviator can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Lyriq’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Aviator doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Cadillac Lyriq higher (10 out of 10) than the Lincoln Aviator (5). This means the Lyriq produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Aviator every 15,000 miles.

The Lyriq stops shorter than the Aviator:

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the Aviator (265/50R20 vs. 255/55R20).

The Lyriq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Aviator’s standard 55 series tires.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Lincoln Aviator only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Lyriq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Aviator doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 2.7 inches longer than on the Aviator (121.8 inches vs. 119.1 inches).

The Lyriq Luxury AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Aviator Reserve AWD (26.4 seconds @ .71 average G’s vs. 27.2 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The Lyriq has 1.3 inches more front legroom and .6 inches more rear legroom than the Aviator.

The Lyriq has a much larger cargo volume than the Aviator with its rear seat up (28 vs. 18.3 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Lyriq’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Aviator doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Aviator, the Lyriq has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Lyriq’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Intelligent Access standard on the Aviator doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

When the Lyriq is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Aviator’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Lyriq’s Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Aviator (except Premiere)’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Cadillac Lyriq outsold the Lincoln Aviator by 13% during 2024.
