The Cadillac Vistiq has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Vistiq. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the Wagoneer S.

A passive infrared night vision system standard on the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Vistiq and Wagoneer S have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Vistiq has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Wagoneer S’ Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Vistiq and the Wagoneer S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Vistiq weighs 601 pounds more than the Jeep Wagoneer S. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Vistiq comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Wagoneer S’ 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Vistiq 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Wagoneer S. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Wagoneer S ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Vistiq’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Wagoneer S’ (6 vs. 5 years).

For better traction, the Vistiq has larger standard tires than the Wagoneer S (285/45R21 vs. 235/50R20). The Vistiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Wagoneer S (305/35R23 vs. 235/50R20).

The Vistiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer S’ standard 50 series tires. The Vistiq’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Wagoneer S’ 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vistiq has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Wagoneer S. The Vistiq offers optional 23-inch wheels.

The Cadillac Vistiq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Jeep Wagoneer S only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Vistiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The Vistiq has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Wagoneer S’ suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Vistiq has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vistiq’s wheelbase is 8.8 inches longer than on the Wagoneer S (121.8 inches vs. 113 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Vistiq is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than on the Wagoneer S.

For better maneuverability, the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the Wagoneer S’ (38.2 feet vs. 40 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Vistiq has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer S (7.2 vs. 6.4 inches), allowing the Vistiq to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.
