In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Celestiq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Air doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Celestiq. But it costs extra on the Air.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Celestiq helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Air doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Cadillac Celestiq’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Lucid Motors Air does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

The Celestiq has standard OnStar®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Air doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Celestiq and the Air have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Celestiq weighs 664 to 1436 pounds more than the Lucid Motors Air. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are over 28 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Celestiq’s warranty.

The Celestiq’s electric motors produces 225 more horsepower (655 vs. 430) and 240 lbs.-ft. more torque (646 vs. 406) than the Air Pure’s standard electric motor. The Celestiq’s electric motors produces 35 more horsepower (655 vs. 620) than the Air Touring’s standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Celestiq has larger tires than the Air (285/35R23 vs. 245/45R19). The Celestiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Air (285/35R23 vs. 265/35R20).

The Celestiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Air’s standard 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Celestiq has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Air. The Celestiq’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Air.

The Celestiq has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Air doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Celestiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Air doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The Celestiq has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Air doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Celestiq uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Air, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Celestiq offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lucid Motors doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Air.

The Celestiq has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Celestiq’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Air doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Celestiq’s wheelbase is 13.7 inches longer than on the Air (130.2 inches vs. 116.5 inches).

The front grille of the Celestiq uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Air doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Celestiq uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Air doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Celestiq has 1.1 inches more front headroom, 4.3 inches more front legroom, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear headroom, 1.1 inches more rear legroom and 4.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Air.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Celestiq. The Air doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

If the windows are left open on the Celestiq the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Air can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Celestiq’s power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the car. The Air doesn’t offer a power rear door.

The Celestiq’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Air’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Celestiq’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Air has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and rear seats keep the Celestiq’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Air doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Celestiq has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Air.

The Celestiq has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the Air. The Celestiq also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Air.

The Celestiq’s standard oscillating air vents move back and forth and distribute air evenly inside the vehicle, making everyone more comfortable. The Air doesn’t offer oscillating vents.
