For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Celestiq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lotus Emeya doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Cadillac Celestiq has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Celestiq has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Celestiq helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Emeya doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Cadillac Celestiq’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Lotus Emeya does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the Celestiq and the Emeya have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Celestiq comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The Emeya’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Celestiq comes with free roadside assistance for 6 years 70,000 miles. Cadillac will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Emeya.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Celestiq 3 years and 34000 miles longer than Lotus covers the Emeya. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Emeya ends after only 3 years or 36,000 miles.

There are almost 15 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Celestiq’s warranty.

The Celestiq’s standard electric motors produces 52 more horsepower (655 vs. 603) than the Emeya’s standard electric motors.

The Celestiq can travel longer on a full charge than the Emeya R (303 miles vs. 270 miles).

For better traction, the Celestiq has larger tires than the Emeya (285/35R23 vs. 255/45R20). The Celestiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Emeya (285/35R23 vs. 265/40R21).

The Celestiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Emeya’s standard 45 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Celestiq has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Emeya. The Celestiq’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Emeya.

The Celestiq has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Emeya doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Celestiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Emeya doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Celestiq’s wheelbase is 9.4 inches longer than on the Emeya (130.2 inches vs. 120.8 inches).

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Celestiq has standard extendable sun visors. The Emeya doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Celestiq has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the Emeya. The Celestiq also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Emeya.

The Celestiq’s standard oscillating air vents move back and forth and distribute air evenly inside the vehicle, making everyone more comfortable. The Emeya doesn’t offer oscillating vents.
