The Cadillac CT5-V has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The G70 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The CT5-V (except Manual) has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The G70 doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the CT5-V and the G70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and driver alert monitors.

There are almost 3 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CT5-V’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the CT5-V’s reliability 16 points higher than the G70.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Genesis is rated below average.

The CT5-V’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 60 more horsepower (360 vs. 300) and 94 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 311) than the G70 2.5T’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder. The CT5-V’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 29 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 376) than the G70 3.3T’s standard 3.3 turbo V6. The CT5-V Blackwing’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 303 more horsepower (668 vs. 365) and 283 lbs.-ft. more torque (659 vs. 376) than the G70 3.3T’s standard 3.3 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the CT5-V Blackwing’s fuel efficiency. The G70 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The CT5-V has 1.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the G70 (17.5 vs. 15.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The CT5-V has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The G70 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The CT5-V offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The G70 doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac CT5-V, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the G70.

For better stopping power the CT5-V Blackwing’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the G70:

The CT5-V Blackwing offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The G70 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The CT5-V stops much shorter than the G70:

For better traction, the CT5-V has larger standard tires than the G70 (245/40R19 vs. 225/40R19). The CT5-V Blackwing’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the G70 (F:285/35R19 & R:305/30R19 vs. F:225/40R19 & R:255/35R19).

The CT5-V Blackwing’s 275/35R19 front and 305/30R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the G70’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the CT5-V offers optional 20-inch wheels. The G70’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The CT5-V has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The G70 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the CT5-V can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The G70 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The CT5-V has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The G70’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the CT5-V’s wheelbase is 4.4 inches longer than on the G70 (116 inches vs. 111.6 inches).

The CT5-V Blackwing handles at 1.13 G’s, while the G70 Sport Prestige AWD pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The CT5-V Blackwing executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.6 seconds quicker than the G70 Sport Prestige AWD (22.6 seconds @ .95 average G’s vs. 26.2 seconds @ .69 average G’s).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the CT5-V a Mid-size car, while the G70 is rated a Compact.

The CT5-V has 3.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the G70 (99 vs. 95.9).

The CT5-V has .4 inches more front shoulder room, 3.1 inches more rear legroom and 1.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the G70.

The CT5-V has a much larger trunk than the G70 (11.9 vs. 10.5 cubic feet).

The CT5-V’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The G70 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The CT5-V’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Proximity Key standard on the G70 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The CT5-V’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The G70’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The CT5-V has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the G70 AWD/3.3T Sport Prestige.

The CT5-V has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the G70.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac CT5-V has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the G70 Prestige offers wireless charging.

The CT5-V (except Manual)’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The G70 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Cadillac CT5-V, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Genesis G70 isn't recommended.

The CT5-V Blackwing was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025 and 3 more times in the last 4 years. The G70 hasn’t been picked since 2019, and the G70 has only been chosen once.

The Cadillac CT5 outsold the Genesis G70 by 17% during 2024.
