For enhanced safety, the front shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Blazer are height-adjustable, and the rear seat shoulder belts have child comfort guides to move the belt to properly fit children. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages children to buckle up. The Honda CR-V has only front height-adjustable seat belts.

The Blazer offers an optional HD Surround Vision to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The CR-V only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Chevrolet Blazer offers an optional HD Surround Vision and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Honda CR-V doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Blazer has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Only the CR-V EX/Hybrid offers Cross Traffic Monitor.

Both the Blazer and the CR-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available all wheel drive.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Chevrolet Blazer is safer than the Honda CR-V:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Chevrolet Blazer is safer than the Honda CR-V:

Warranty

The Blazer’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CR-V’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are almost 3 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Honda dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Blazer first among midsize suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The CR-V isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Honda vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 1 more problems per 100 vehicles, Honda is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Honda vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Honda is rated lower.

Engine

The Blazer’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 38 more horsepower (228 vs. 190) and 79 lbs.-ft. more torque (258 vs. 179) than the CR-V’s standard 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder. The Blazer’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 24 more horsepower (228 vs. 204) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (258 vs. 247) than the CR-V Hybrid’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid. The Blazer’s optional 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 104 more horsepower (308 vs. 204) and 23 lbs.-ft. more torque (270 vs. 247) than the CR-V Hybrid’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Chevrolet Blazer V6 is faster than the CR-V Hybrid 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid:

Fuel Economy and Range

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Blazer V6’s fuel efficiency. The CR-V doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the Blazer and the CR-V have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All Blazers have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The CR-V Hybrid doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

The Blazer FWD’s standard fuel tank has 5.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the CR-V (19.4 vs. 14 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Blazer AWD’s standard fuel tank has 7.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the CR-V (21.7 vs. 14 gallons).

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Blazer’s brake rotors are larger than those on the CR-V:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Blazer RS’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the CR-V (265/45R21 vs. 235/60R18).

The Blazer RS’ optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the CR-V LX. The Blazer RS’ optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels on the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid.

The Chevrolet Blazer’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Honda CR-V only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The CR-V doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

The Blazer has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The CR-V doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer’s wheelbase is 6.4 inches longer than on the CR-V (112.7 inches vs. 106.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 2.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the CR-V.

The Blazer RS AWD handles at .87 G’s, while the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid pulls only .81 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Blazer RS AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.2 seconds quicker than the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid (27.1 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 29.3 seconds @ .57 average G’s).

Chassis

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Blazer RS AWD is quieter than the CR-V EX-L AWD (66 vs. 69 dB).

Passenger Space

The Blazer has 1.2 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear headroom, 1.6 inches more rear hip room and 2.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the CR-V.

Cargo Capacity

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the Blazer’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The CR-V doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Towing

The Blazer’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the CR-V’s (1500 vs. 1000 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Honda CR-V is only 1500 pounds. The Blazer offers up to a 4500 lbs. towing capacity.

The Blazer can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Blazer can be unhitched and driven around locally. The CR-V can’t be towed flat on the ground.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The CR-V doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

The Blazer’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The CR-V has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The power windows standard on both the Blazer and the CR-V have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Blazer is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The CR-V prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Blazer’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The CR-V’s standard power windows’ passenger windows don’t open automatically.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Blazer’s available exterior PIN entry system. The CR-V doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

The Blazer’s standard Keyless Open and Start allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Pushbutton Start standard on the CR-V only offers hands-free access for the ignition, none to unlock the vehicle. Pushbutton Start is not available on the CR-V EX/EX-L/Sport/TrailSport/Sport-L/Sport Touring.

Consumer Reports rated the Blazer’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the CR-V’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”

The Blazer’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Honda only offers heated mirrors on the CR-V EX/EX-L/Sport/TrailSport/Sport-L/Sport Touring.

When the Blazer RS with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The CR-V’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Blazer’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The CR-V offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Blazer has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats are only available on the CR-V EX/Sport. The Blazer RS also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CR-V.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Blazer RS keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The CR-V doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Blazer has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the CR-V EX/EX-L/Sport/TrailSport/Sport-L/Sport Touring.

Compared to the Honda CR-V, the Chevrolet Blazer eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its optional integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the overhead console.

Compared to traditional radio, the Chevrolet Blazer’s standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks. Satellite radio is only offered on the CR-V EX-L/Sport-L/Sport Touring.

The Blazer offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The CR-V doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
